By Richard Ramsay-PCA. Does God accept me as I am? Why did Jesus die, and what difference does it make? Should I obey God in order to earn his favor? What do the "doctrines of grace" have to do with me? How can I grow in my faith?
This practical workbook surveys the most central truths of the Bible with an emphasis on how they apply to everyday life. Clear and easy to use, it is designed especially for those needing a basic grasp of biblical teaching. It features interaction with Scripture texts, helpful illustrations, crisp summaries, and questions for review and discussion. The result is a workbook that promotes understanding, spiritual growth, and energetic living by God's grace.

Every church in the PCA looks forward to having new people join their church. Every church has a different way of going about preparing them for membership. Now there is a set of materials to help those churches to teach these newcomers just what they are agreeing to according to the Book of Church Order.
The first book, What Did I Say When I Joined the Church, by Glen McClung is an outline of all the topics relevant to each of the five questions we put to the prospect. This is a helpful work for the one leading the study.
The second book, Living Stones, by Peter Dietsch, is written for those coming for membership in your church. It covers the five questions they will be agreeing to before the congregation. It is not a difficult read, nor a long read. It is well written and very helpful. This, along with What Did I Say When I Joined the Church, will go a long way to helping you keep new members for a long time, and helps them to know exactly what they are agreeing to do.
I would also like to recommend two additional studies:
Am I Good Enough?, by Richard Ramsay – this is one of the best studies I have come across to take non-Christians and brand new Christians through to help them understand the foundational truth of Christianity. It is a fill-in-the-blank format. There are 15 studies, all from a Reformed perspective. The explanations are short, to the point, simple enough for anyone who has no church background to understand. There are Bible memory verses they can cut out in the back, and other follow-up helps. This will be a great book to take your people through to train them in doing evangelism.
The other is a booklet, An Inquirer’s Guide to the PCA, can be given to people after they have been coming to your church for a while and are interested in finding out more about Presbyterianism. The booklet contains information about the history of Presbyterianism, the five distinctives of the PCA, our form of church government, brief details on each of our committees and agencies, our Identity, Mission, Vision, and Values statements, and a list of further resources.
What you have here is a list of materials that will take a person from a non-Christian all the way to membership. Don’t miss using any of these great materials.
