By Lisa Wallover-PCA
Mark is the shortest and most concise of the four Gospels, sharing the stories of Jesus with speed and clarity. In just sixteen chapters, Mark uses the word “immediately” thirty-five times. Jesus was on the move. And yet, He always had time for the people He met on His way.

The structure of story, Scripture, and song will occur seven times. The Readers will recount experiences of those who encountered Christ throughout the Gospel of Mark, while the Scripture readings lead us through the events that begin in the Upper Room and end at the sealed tomb. The music connects us all to what Jesus accomplished on the cross.

The Way of the Lord provides the readings and structure for a moving and sacred Good Friday Tenebrae service. The gradual dimming of lights and extinguishing of candles throughout the service creates a meaningful atmosphere for thought and reflection.

The songs (seven to nine pieces) are choral/musical responses to the specific Scriptures and stories and are a powerful element of the service. Musical selections are suggested.

Twelve Readers (3 women, 9 men)
Reading Time (without music): 20-25 minutes
Musical Selections are suggested.
