"By Millard J Erickson. Asking questions about theological matters is a good thing. Getting correct answers to those questions is even better. Respected theologian Millard J. Erickson offers this bookto contribute to both of those ends. The ConciseDictionary of Theology is a resource to be kept close at hand during class sessions and independentreading. The second edition of this theologian'scompanion seeks to bring the original dictionary up to date by supplementing it with pertinent ideasand persons from the past 15 years. The emphasisremains, though, upon the first 19 centuries of the Christian era, since students have greater familiarity with recent thought than with earlier historical figures and movements. Erickson's clear, succinct definitions provide every student of theology -- whether a beginner or a seasoned learner -- with the necessary help they'll need in their questfor understanding."

We have reviewed several of Millard Erickson’s books,
including Christian Theology, in Equip for Ministry. He is a
worthy theologian to read and study. This book is appearing again because the
new edition is fresh and up-to-date. As the title says, the definitions are
concise and accurate, quick and easy to read and use. Erickson makes the harder
theological terms easier for the average reader to understand.
Several examples will demonstrate the value of this volume.
Culture - the total pattern of human behavior and its products; a
society’s ways of life and thinking. Day - In Scripture, the hours of
daylight, a long era, or a specific period. God, Glory of - The splendor,
greatness, and magnificence of God. Holy Week - The week between Palm
Sunday and Easter.
Along with the terms you will find brief biographical
descriptions of individuals such as Charles Hodge, Ambrose, and Thomas Aquinas.

preachers, and students will be glad to have this volume in their possession for
a handy, reliable resource.
